Our fundamental values
As a Belgian family business we stay close to our customers and believe in a long-term vision. That translates into three values.
You talk to people, not to a ticketing system. We take the time to understand your challenge, even when you cannot explain it in technical terms, and we translate complex technology into language everyone understands. For us technology is never the goal, but a way to make your people's work easier.
We are not fond of theory that disappears into a drawer. We would rather look at what delivers here and now, and get on with it straight away. Practical and usable beats good on paper with us.
Your challenge is just as much ours. We think along, ask questions and speak up when something could be better, unprompted too. We keep a finger on the pulse: what is going well, what could be better, where will you stand in a year? And we bring your people along, because technology only delivers results once they start using it.

What makes us who we are? Our communities, which grow entirely bottom-up. We believe the best ideas grow out of passion, curiosity and entrepreneurship. Today Xylos already has more than ten active communities, around a wide range of technologies, areas of expertise and interests. 1983

In the early eighties the personal computer turned the world of bulky mainframes upside down. Christian Leysen saw that technological revolution as the ideal moment to start a business and founded Xylos in December 1983. The official opening followed on 10 May 1984. With a team of five he built a real start-up, years before that word existed.
Xylos began as a distributor of hardware and software, with brands such as IBM and HP. It soon turned out that customers did not know how to use all that new technology. So Xylos started training people, with portable PCs that literally went out on the road. That combination, delivering technology and helping people work with it, has been in the DNA ever since.

We have a lively office right in the middle of the port of Antwerp. On the sixth floor of the Ahlers building we work on innovation and collaboration every day. The view? You never tire of it.

Our board of directors
The Xylos board of directors safeguards our long-term vision and our continuity as an independent family business. An independent chair and the directors meet five times a year and provide transparent decision-making, with attention to ethics and entrepreneurship. They combine sector knowledge with broad expertise and set out the strategic framework for innovation and growth.
Xylos is a family business in the true sense of the word. The majority of the shares are held by the Patrick Leysen family; Ackermans & van Haaren is a minority shareholder. That stable structure gives us the freedom to do business with a horizon of decades rather than quarters.

Our advisory board
Alongside the board of directors, Xylos also has an advisory board: a panel of market experts. Their mission: to test our offering against the reality of the market on a regular basis, with people who are in the middle of it every day. By meeting several times a year, they keep Xylos sharp and close to what customers and the sector need.
