Producing day and night, with IT that keeps pace

Managed services for an environment that runs partly on-premises and partly in Azure — so a growing SME can keep its hands free for production.

The customer is a Flemish manufacturing company in the building materials sector, with ISO-certified operations and more than a hundred and fifty employees — a typical industrial SME that runs around the clock.

The challenge

A manufacturing company depends on a stable IT environment that lives both on-premises and in Azure. Keeping that environment reliable and secure calls for deep specialist knowledge and constant follow-up — a capability an SME can rarely build up entirely in-house.

The company was looking for a partner to take the whole environment off its hands. With a fixed monthly price, security that stays ahead of problems, and someone to call when something does go wrong.

The approach

Xylos takes end-to-end responsibility for the environment in scope, both on-premises and in Azure. A transition phase maps out the environment and sets the patching, back-up and monitoring agreements per component.

The service rests on three pillars. Proactive, with continuous monitoring, best-practice maintenance and 24/7 security oversight. Reactive, with an easily reachable service desk and clear SLA agreements. And adoption, with attention to the skills of the people on the shop floor.

A Service Delivery Manager is the fixed point of contact, who looks after governance through recurring review and service meetings, bimonthly reporting and an annual vision and roadmap session.

The solution

Xylos manages the environment with continuous monitoring through LogicMonitor, a service desk in Antwerp with 24/7 on-call support for P1 and P2 incidents, SLA-based incident handling, patch management, back-up follow-up and standard changes based on a service catalogue.

For secure access management, Xylos deploys Delinea Secret Server. Administrator accounts are stored securely, passwords rotate every thirty days and sessions are recorded, giving the customer a full audit trail of who had access when.

On top of the base service, targeted improvement projects are underway: sharpening the RTO and RPO requirements, running an initial patching cycle, rolling out Eye Security's 24/7 SOC, and bringing workplace management under Microsoft Intune.

The result

Xylos now watches over the entire IT environment, on-premises and in Azure. For a fixed monthly price, everything keeps running, without the company having to build up a large IT team of its own.

  • Continuous monitoring and 24/7 support for critical incidents.

  • Secure access management with an audit trail via Delinea.

  • A fixed point of contact that proactively steers quality and roadmap.

That way, attention goes to what the company does best: its own production.
