The customer | Province of Antwerp
The Province of Antwerp is a dynamic and multifaceted organization. The province’s complex IT infrastructure plays an important role in its daily operations and services. The province was looking for a partner to renew its infrastructure, ranging from servers to storage, backup and managed services.
The challenge | A tailored and sustainable infrastructure
The Province of Antwerp faced multiple challenges:
- Outdated IT infrastructure ranging from servers to storage and backup systems.
- The need to find a sustainable solution in line with their core values.
- Finding a partner that could provide flexibility, manageability and ease of use.
One of the province’s most important core values is sustainability, a factor that was given much consideration when choosing the new infrastructure.
The process | Development of an allround solution
Bart Brandsen, Infrastructure & Operations Manager at the province, and his team drew up detailed specifications that included the province’s technical requirements and sustainability goals. Xylos participated in the tender and submitted a thoroughly developed proposal. After careful evaluation of all submissions, Xylos was chosen from four candidates. The selection was based on the ability to provide a total solution that was not only technologically advanced, but also in line with the province’s sustainability goals.
The solution | A flexible, manageable and user-friendly environment
Together with the client, we chose an approach that combined the technological expertise of both HPE and VMware to create a hyper-converged infrastructure. This infrastructure is specifically tailored to the needs and sustainability goals of the Province of Antwerp. The HPE servers and VMware vSAN provide a flexible, manageable and user-friendly environment. Cohesity was integrated for backup, disaster recovery and data management. All this is offered in a pay-per-use model, providing cost savings and efficiency.
The result | Robust, futureproof infrastructure
The province of Antwerp now once again has a modern, flexible and sustainable IT infrastructure. The collaboration with Xylos resulted in a solution that is not only technologically advanced, but also aligns with the province’s sustainability goals (e.g. recycling old IT equipment).
