Fedrus centralizes HR data for smarter decisions

In the wake of post-COVID changes, Fedrus wanted to better understand how remote work was impacting employee productivity. The goal: move beyond gut feeling and create a data-driven Homework Index to support HR policy decisions.

Data & Analytics

The customer | Fedrus International

Fedrus International is an international group specializing in the production, distribution, and services of roof and façade materials. With operations across multiple countries, the company combines craftsmanship and innovation to support construction professionals with high-quality solutions.

The challenge | Measuring hybrid work performance

As hybrid work became the norm, Fedrus needed visibility into how employees were working, at home versus at the office, and how that impacted productivity. Their administrative teams faced new challenges, and the company wanted to evaluate trends based on real usage and behavior data, not assumptions.

The solution | From scattered data to insights

To address this need, we kicked off the project with business analysis and data modeling workshops involving key HR and business stakeholders. We implemented Microsoft Fabric as the central data platform, enabling us to ingest and consolidate data from a range of sources including SAP logs, Microsoft Teams Calling, Microsoft 365 usage data, and Acerta (their payroll provider).

Using a Medallion Architecture, we transformed this raw data into a structured semantic model tailored for analysis. Automated pipelines and orchestration were put in place to keep the data fresh and flowing. Finally, we developed a multi-page Power BI report that provides daily updates and includes interactive filters and views to support HR and leadership in decision-making. This project followed a waterfall delivery approach with clearly defined phases and outcomes.

Technology and tools we used in this project:

  • Microsoft Fabric as the centralized data platform

  • Medallion Architecture for structured data transformation

  • Data sources: SAP, Teams, M365, Acerta

  • Power BI for interactive reporting

  • Automated pipelines for seamless ingestion and updates

The result | A data-driven Homework Index

Fedrus now has access to a daily updated Power BI report that reveals key trends in homeworking versus in-office behavior. The Homework Index allows them to assess productivity patterns objectively and adjust HR policies based on data rather than assumptions. This helps the organization evolve its hybrid work approach with clarity, confidence, and control.
