Temporary price reduction as of February 2026
From 1 February 2026, Microsoft will reduce Commercial Cloud prices in local currencies. For the eurozone, this represents an average decrease of approximately 7.4%. The exact impact varies per licence, but for many organisations this will result in immediate cost savings.
This reduced pricing will also apply to current promotions, including Microsoft Copilot. As a result, the threshold for introducing Copilot more broadly across teams and departments becomes significantly lower.
Why timing matters
This price reduction is temporary. Microsoft has confirmed that further price increases will follow later in 2026. Organisations that renew or expand their licences before the summer can often secure the lower pricing for multiple years. This provides predictability and protection against future increases.
This makes now an ideal moment to:
- Critically review current licence usage
- Reduce overcapacity
- Selectively upgrade to licences with additional functionality
New capabilities and price increase as of July 2026
From 1 July 2026, Microsoft will extend the functionality of several licences. This includes additional email storage, enhanced security features and more advanced device management capabilities. At the same time, these improvements will be accompanied by a general price increase.
This combination makes it important to start considering now.
- Which add-ons may become redundant
- Which licences will deliver greater value
- How renewals should be planned most effectively
