  • Which charts to use to illustrate your data
  • How to create charts and how to format them using different options
  • How to create your own chart templates, which saves you a lot of time
  • How to export charts and insert them in a Word or PowerPoint file

Part 1: Creating Charts

  • Via ribbon
  • Via shortcuts

Part 2: Components and Format

  • The various parts of a chart (grid lines, legend, plot area, chart area, series, …)
  • Options on the contextual tabs in the ribbon
  • Chart formatting control to add components to a chart quickly
  • Formatting the various components of a chart (e.g. adding and positioning data labels, creating floating charts)
  • Working with a second y-axis
  • Adjusting the scale of a chart

Part 3: Types of Chart

  • Overview of the various chart types (e.g. difference between line and scatter)
  • Combining charts (e.g. column and line charts)

Part 4: Miscellaneous

  • Trend lines
  • Error bars
  • Adding other objects to a chart
  • Exporting charts to/creating them in other Office suites
  • In-cell charts (sparklines)
  • Getting creative with charts (conditional formatting in charts, speedometer, waffle chart…)
